Legendary director D.W. Griffith retells the thrilling story of the Revolutionary War in this classic silent film from 1924. Nathan Holden (Neil Hamilton) is a courier who finds himself at the forefront of events when war breaks out between Great Britain and the American colonies. He has fallen in love with the Virginia aristocrat Nancy Montague (Carol Dempster), but her Tory father (Erville Anderson) disapproves of his "disloyal" political views. Walter Butler (Lionel Barrymore) is the brilliantly savage British officer who allies his troops with the murderous Iroquois Indians and conducts the infamous Cherry Valley massacre. Filmed on location in Virginia and New York, this masterpiece features meticulous historical recreations, including Paul Revere's midnight ride, George Washington at Valley Forge, the Battle of Bunker Hill, and the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Also included on this video disc is the 1917 classic silent film, Betsy Ross, starring Alice Brady.
