In the 1850s, a new form of entertainment swept across the American scene - the minstrel show. This is the dramatized story of Daniel Decatur Emmett, the first of the great minstrels who donned burned cork and sang his way into the heart of the country with his immortal song, "Dixie." This film is a delightful musical suitable for the entire family and has long been suppressed due to its perceived racial stereotyping. Also included is the 60-minute 1943 Lux Radio Theater presentation of Dixie, starring Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour.
IMPORTANT: The picture quality of this movie rates as a C (7/10), and is the best that is currently available. We have provided it here mainly as a service to collectors. This DVD will not view well on a high definition television.
